SEATTLE
There’s something special about sports in Seattle. Maybe it’s because it rains so much. Or maybe it’s because it’s crammed so far up in the far corner of America. For some reason or another, Seattle just refuses to be normal, and there’s probably something beautiful to that. And ultimately, that’s what this blog is dedicated to: remembering all the weirdest, strangest, things that have ever happened in Seattle sports history.
about me
I was born and raised in Seattle, spending my entire childhood and young adulthood here. After graduating high school I have gone on to study at Boston University, majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Journalism. This blog is my way of giving back to the sports world that has been such a big part of my life for most of my teenage years.
why i started this
Like many things in life, this blog initially started out as an idea. Back in March of 2020 when Covid-19 was first sweeping across the United States, multiple sports leagues across the nation were put on hold. I don’t think I speak just for myself when I say those months being stuck in quarantine with no sports were extremely boring and torturous. So when I began thinking of ways I could help society combat against the pandemic, one of my immediate thoughts was about how I could help someone just like me, an avid sports fan. And ultimately that is the goal of this blog, to help others through quarantine. Even if it is only one other person who finds my writing enjoyable, I am glad that I was able to help someone get through quarantine a little easier.
So why a blog in specific? When I looked at the blogging landscape, what I saw was an opportunity for me to fill a niche no one else has touched yet. Most, if not all, blogs focus primarily on the current iteration of the teams and technical statistical analysis. To me, however, sports is so much more than that. Sports is about the storylines: the paths these players and teams have taken to get to this point. Sports is about the history: iconic plays and heated rivalries that run deeper than any iteration of the two teams. And most importantly, sports is about the emotional connection each fan feels towards their teams. These are the reasons why we continue to root for our teams, regardless of win or loss. And that is what this blog is dedicated towards, writing about all of the strangest narratives and storylines that have ever come through our beautiful Pacific Northwest.
